What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy that focuses on issues related to sex, sexuality, and gender. It’s like traditional therapy but with more specialized focus and experience. When seeking a sex therapist, make sure to ask about their training and credentials. I have advanced postgraduate training in clinical sexology, and my practice is informed by years of experience in this field. AASECT certification is often considered the gold standard for sex therapists in the U.S.

Do you offer therapy for LGBTQ+ clients?

Yes, I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients, addressing issues around identity, relationships, and sexual well-being. Whether you’re navigating personal discovery or working through relationship challenges, I’m here to support you in a non-judgmental space.

I also work with straight, cis and monogamous individuals and relationships.

Can therapy help with religious trauma?

Yes, I have extensive experience working with individuals recovering from religious trauma. Therapy can offer a safe, supportive space to process your experiences, reclaim your identity, and find healing from the impact of restrictive or harmful religious beliefs.

Where is your office located?

My office is located at 16 N Marengo Ave, Ste 411, Pasadena, CA 91101. I am in Old Town Pasadena, 1 block south of the Pasadena City Hall corridor and two blocks south of the Metro A Line Memorial Park Station.

Where should I park?

Parking is easy! You can park in the structure at 198 S Raymond Ave or under the Paseo complex at 33 E Colorado Blvd ($3 per hour). There’s also street parking available near City Hall.

Do you see clients in person or only online?

I see clients in person at my Old Town Pasadena office and also online via secure teleheath video software for those in California who prefer remote sessions.

Do you offer video and phone therapy sessions?

Yes, I offer both phone sessions and HIPAA-compliant Zoom for Healthcare video sessions for clients who prefer remote therapy.

Do you take insurance?

While I don’t bill insurance directly, I can provide you with billing documents for possible reimbursement through your insurance if you have a PPO plan that covers out-of-network mental health care.

How often will we meet for therapy?

Most clients benefit from weekly therapy sessions, especially during the first six months. In rare cases, less or more frequent sessions are possible. If our main focus of therapy is trauma or sex/sexuality, weekly sessions will generally lead to the best treatment outcomes.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I require at least 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Whenever possible and depending on my availability, I will not bill for sessions that are rescheduled in that same week. I would much rather see you than bill for an unused session!

I strongly recommend against cancellations/reschedules with any frequency as these can greatly impeded therapeutic process.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking an appointment is easy! You can schedule a free consultation call by clicking here. This is the best way to get started with therapy.

What age range do you work with?

I primarily work with teens and adults. If you’re looking for therapy for a younger individual, send me an email, and we can explore if they’d be a good fit for my practice. If not, I can refer you to excellent providers in the area.

What are your specialties in therapy?

I specialize in sex therapy, LGBTQ+ issues, alternative relationship dynamics (such as polyamory and open relationships), and religious trauma. My goal is to help you achieve deeper connection and authenticity in your relationships and personal life.
